Nuro Reaches $6 Billion Valuation After New Funding Round

Funding and Valuation
Nuro, the autonomous delivery startup, has raised $106 million, bringing its valuation to $6 billion, down from $8.6 billion in 2021 but still showing strong investor support.

Investors Involved
The funding round included major names like T. Rowe Price, Fidelity, Tiger Global, Greylock Partners, and XN.

About the Company
Founded by two former Google engineers, Jiajun Zhu and Dave Ferguson, Nuro focuses on building small, electric self-driving vehicles for local deliveries. Its delivery bots are designed without space for a human driver and are tailored for transporting goods only. Nuro has tested and launched services in several U.S. states, including California, Texas, and Arizona. It has worked with big brands like Walmart, Kroger, Domino’s, Chipotle, and Uber Eats to offer last-mile delivery services.

New Strategy: From Operator to Tech Provider
Nuro is shifting its business model. Instead of just operating its own delivery fleet, it will now license its self-driving system, called Nuro Driver, to car manufacturers. This means automakers can use Nuro’s technology in their own vehicles — a move that opens a new revenue stream and speeds up adoption of Nuro’s platform.

Future Plans
Nuro will use the new funds to improve its AI systems, grow partnerships, expand to more cities, and support its new tech licensing strategy, aiming to lead the future of autonomous delivery.
